How to Handle a Poor Performance Evaluation
If you do not receive high marks on your employee performance measurement then there are a few things you can do:
1. Look at the review objectively and make sure you understand everything that was criticized.
2. Make a personal goal to improve on the things listed in the evaluation.
3. If you feel you have received an unfair critique, then go to your manager to discuss the evaluation.
It is unclear to some companies how to measure employee performance. Each manager may have his/her own style of evaluating job performance. If you disagree with the comments then you should make a list of the things you have questions about and defend your point of view by writing down your opinions. Back up your objections with specific things you have done on the job. Keeping records and having a paper trail can be helpful in the future if any problems should arise.
